A divorce certificate is a written proof of a divorce. It is a statement that includes information such as the names of the spouses, data about the marriage solemnisation, the surname after the divorce and other details.
Where do I apply for this document?
You can apply for a divorce certificate at the municipality where you got married. This can be easily done online. You will need a DigiD to do so. If you don’t have a DigiD yet, you can apply for one online.
What does a translation cost?
The cost for the certified translation of a standard deed of the civil registry is 55 euros including VAT. This amount is exclusive of an apostille or a legalisation stamp and any recorded delivery costs. You can also pick up the certified translation by appointment. If you need more deeds to be translated, then we can offer a reduced rate.
When will the translation be ready?
The certified translation can be ready and sent by recorded delivery within two working days after receipt of your payment. If you need an apostille or legalisation stamp, different turnaround times will apply.
Please keep in mind that you need to sign for receipt. You normally receive postal items sent within the Netherlands the next working day. This varies for postal items that are sent abroad.

In addition, Bianca’s words of encouragement helped keep my spirits up and her extra online assistance helped me try to circumvent recalcitrant foreign postal systems. Now I anchor in hope.”
